JANE NGAI

Jane graduated from UBC with a  BSc in Biology in 2008 and BScN in Nursing in 2010.  She completed her High Acuity and Critical Care Specialty training from BCIT in 2014 and currently works at St. Paul’s Hospital PACU.  Jane is currently enrolled in completing her Masters of Nursing through Athabasca University.Besides her professional life, Jane loves to stay active both indoors and outdoors – competing in crossfit competitions, olympic weightlifting, cycling and running. She believes that nursing is a lifelong journey of learning, camaraderie and actualizing capacities:  “A posse ad esse – From possibility to actuality.”  janengai

MARIAM AKHTARY

Mariam Akhtary has been working as a PACU nurse at St Paul Hospital since 2008. After graduating from Langara College as a Registered Nurse in 1999, she choose a career in travel nursing, exploring different hospitals across the United States and British Columbia over eight years. In 2004, she achieved her Critical Care Specialization in California.Mariam loves playing with the art of photography, growing garlic and being in her garden. She is dedicated to the highest standards of nursing and committed to the empowerment of her colleagues. “Let the beauty of what you love be what you do.” Rumi mariam

KYLIE THIRLWELL

Kylie graduated from the University of Alberta in 2012 with a BScN bilingual degree with a focus on care of both francophone and anglophone populations in Canada. While completing a final preceptorship at the PACU at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, she discovered a passion for perianesthesia nursing. She has been pursuing that passion since, working in a number of different clinical areas. EMILY AUBRY

 Emily graduated from Southampton University in England where she worked in CCU, ICU & PACU before moving to Canada for a new way of life in 2010.
Since in Canada she has continued in critical care nursing currently at St. Paul’s hospital PACU.
Away from work Emily loves being outside hiking, biking and snowboarding.
Being a perianesthesia nurse, she enjoys the variety of challenges that arise and is a firm believer in life long learning. She is currently completing her Masters in Public Health.

LEVI ABAYA

Levi completed his Bachelors degree in Nursing at Langara College in 2008 and started his nursing career at St. Paul’s Hospital. He has worked at St. Paul’s Hospital for 8 years and worked in various wards such as orthopaedics, general surgery, and in the high acuity unit. CHRISSY BRANDT

Chrissy graduated from University of Alberta with a BSc in Biology in 2006. Following this she completed her Nursing degree in 2009. She additionally completed a Critical Care Certificate from BCIT and has many years ICU experience. Chrissy has now transitioned to working in PACU in Vancouver since the spring of 2016.

I am married with 2 grown children. I’ve been a nurse for over 30 years and have a 27 year history as recovery room nurse at vancouver health coastal-VGH. I am a VGH graduate from the Feb. 1985 class. I’ve seen the growth and increase of client basis becoming varied with increases in multisystem and complexities in this very fast paced highly acute recovery room. It’s been exciting and educational to see how thing have changed and continue to change and grow along the way. I’ve been privileged to care and be apart of providing quality care to clients and their families. Panbc is valued and I’m happy to be apart of continuing this legacy.

Ingrid Harrisoningrid Is presently working at Peace Arch Hospital & VGH in the PACU. She has been in Critical Care for 24 years with a focus on PACU nursing. She is passionate about patient care and considers patient advocacy a major priority. At VGH she has a strong role in preceptorship and assisting in development of patient care guidelines.

in 1987 & UBC in 1993.  She started working in
the PACU at VGH in 1996, advancing her skills
in critical care, leadership and mentorship.
She is currently working at UBC Hospital in Pre-
Op, PACU & SDC.  Stephanie is dedicated to
providing safe quality patient care and enjoys
opportunities to share her PACU knowledge
with colleagues, students & new staff.
